A recent study led by New Zealand physiotherapists Daniel Harvey and Daniel O’Brien found that one in five physiotherapists have been required to perform resuscitation as part of their role. This highlights the real-world importance of being prepared.

While CPR training is mandatory for those practising under the Sports Physiotherapy Standard, it is also strongly recommended for all physiotherapists working in clinical settings. According to the Physiotherapy Standards Framework, practitioners must incorporate safety and risk management strategies to protect both patients and staff, and CPR training is a crucial part of this responsibility.
