Course Summary
This hands-on Emergency Scenario Training is designed to help healthcare teams recognise and respond confidently to patients with clinically urgent health needs. Using a structured, evidence-based approach aligned with New Zealand Resuscitation Council (NZRC) guidelines, participants work together to manage realistic medical emergencies within their own clinical environment.
This training enhances teamwork, communication, and role clarity while promoting familiarity with emergency procedures and on-site equipment.

Course Content
• Use a systematic approach to assess and manage deteriorating patients
• Practise the DRSABCD framework in simulated emergencies

GP Practice
Meets RNZCGP Cornerstone & Foundation Standard Requirements
This course helps general practices meet key RNZCGP standards by fulfilling:
• Cornerstone Indicator 18.5 – Annual emergency drills to improve the practice’s response to medical emergencies
• Cornerstone Indicator 23 – Prioritising and responding to urgent health needs
• Foundation Standard Indicator 22 – Identifying and responding appropriately to patients with clinically urgent health needs
Dental Practice
The New Zealand Dental Council recommends conducting a six-monthly practice review involving all staff to ensure an appropriate and coordinated response to medical emergencies.
Training includes documentation suitable for audit or accreditation purposes.
