Course Summary
This is an advanced course designed for healthcare professionals who may be required to lead or be part of a team during a cardiac arrest or life-threatening emergency. Aligned with NZRC guidelines, it includes comprehensive pre-course learning and a full day of practical training, simulation, and assessment focused on advanced resuscitation and team leadership skills.
Ideal Participants
- General Practitioners – Participants can claim 12 CPD credits
- Dentists providing sedation – Completion of this course fulfils your Dental Council requirements.
- Registered Nurses working in acute or high-risk environments
Course Content
- Structured team approach to resuscitation
- Adult, child, and infant Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced airway management (LMAs, I-Gels, suction, OPAs, bag-mask ventilation)
- Manual defibrillation and rhythm recognition
- Use of emergency drugs
- Cardiac arrest algorithms (shockable and non-shockable)
- Management of peri-arrest conditions (e.g., anaphylaxis, sepsis, arrhythmias)
- Leading and participating in resuscitation team scenarios
- Debriefing and communication skills under pressure
- Hands-on CPR using high-quality manikins with feedback systems
Duration
8 hours (plus required pre-learning)
You will receive a resuscitation manual and access to pre-learning materials three weeks before the course. A written assessment is required as part of the certification process.
After completing all assessments, the learner will receive their CORE certificate and be invited to provide feedback on their experience.
